The river continues to fish very well this month! We saw a short two week runoff, and now we are seeing a decent visibility of 12-20 inches. Smaller size 4 and size 6 woolly bugger style flies in purple, black, and white have been working really well for the walleye. Big goldeye have been liking the bigger articulated stuff!
We aren't seeing much yet for hatches or decent numbers of rising fish just yet. Dry fly season isn't quite here yet.
When streamer fishing a sink 3 or 5 sink tip streamer line with a short 2-3 foot long 15lb fluorocarbon leader is good for the goldeye and walleye.
Nymphing with balanced leeches has been working as well, set to 4-6 feet depending on depth. Fishing nymphs and balanced leeches around the outfalls after a rainfall is great!
We aren't seeing much yet for big pike in the summer spots, but the fish are starting to move from the tribs to their summer pools and eddies, should be picking up soon!
Good luck and tight lines!

The NSR has been fishing really well these past few weeks, with the post spawn bite in full swing now. We've been seeing a decent number of big goldeye in the city, which means they are right on time this year!
Dark purple and black streamers (circus peanuts) have been hot with the murky water. White space invaders have been working really good as well at times. Both patterns and colours have just been freshly stocked at the fly shop, as well as some other articulated tasty treats. Go stock up while theyre still there!
As we get more rain you want to fish tighter to the bank with a really slow retrieve, the darker the water the slower the retrieve with pauses and twitches in between strips.
Good luck & tight lines!
