This understated pheasant tail variant has fooled more large New Zealand backcountry trout than any other fly I’ve used. It closely mimics a wide range of mayfly nymphs and simply looks like food to a trout. Exceptionally effective for Euro nymphing in clear, pressured rivers, it’s also my go-to confidence fly late in competitions when nothing else works.
